SRAM v Shimano

Re:

i sort of asked for this didn't i.

but ok, shimano is best, why?

shimano works for longer, has better spares availability in the uk because of a a better funded importer, doesn't fall apart at the same rate as sram, arguably looks better, is tested better and therefore doesn't fail when the customer has it as opposed to sram with all the recalls.

also, sram have convinced people to spend more to get less, 1 x 10 etc, it now costs more to buy less.

regarding the rockshox comment, yes that was their only sensible buy because they work.

I have had excellent results from both.

I do like a twist shifter, though. Lots more space for things on your bars.

Didn't know that SRAM did fishing reels.

The reason I don't buy Shimano and fund the blood sport industry.

That's an interesting position, Al.

I kind of agree. I really dislike the idea of catching things you won't eat. But then, my experience of recreational fishermen as a boater is that with the exception of a couple of idiots they do a lot of good for their local environment. Far more than the average boater.

Still, respect! And where do you want your wheels sent?

Love that nice touch of the tennis ball stuffed in the spokes of the front wheel.

It also goes quite some way to countering the oft foisted notion that skateboarders are cool. I'm just saying...

chris a few weeks ago i was coming up the a41 towards the wirral from chester i spotted a couple on a tandam
as they got closer i could see them clearer i noticed there was something rather large on the the front an the lady was looking striaght down at it

as the angle of vision improved(side on) a look of shock an concern
spread across my face as i noticed the lady in her 50s was still face down
in what appeared to be a tablet pc

her bearded companions face looked equally worried an concerned
as mine an more so when he looked over at me an seen the look on my face

i think i was still shaking my head when i got home :)

ive seen her again since on a ebike with that thing on the front,
an again she was face down fixated on the screen probably
reading her own updated status on facehook :p
