Mismatched Stumpy, despite being described as "more or less a bike straight out of the Specialized 1989 catalogue"

Listed as a 1989 original spec, but has 1987 or even earlier decals, so also perhaps a respray. It's a mix of DX from 1989/90, mixed DX / XT hubs, with non-original rims, saddle, seat post and tyres. Nice overall condition but a long way off catalogue or era correct or original.

I picked up the seller on these exact points plus he had it listed as a 'Team' Stumpy which he has now removed. He told me I was talking rubbish when I said he would never get anywhere near £500 for it.

And yes, it's been rattle canned.
