Specialized Rockhopper base model?

Hello, thanks for helping me on previous thred. Find this frame on marketplace. Can you guys help ID this
he said it was repainted by previous owner
headset size seems right
Dropout seems right
brake routing seems right
Serial number not found
odd seatpost size (28.6)

I'm not convinced that it's a Rockhopper at all. The brake cable run along the top tube allowing a full length outer was used on the very early Rockhoppers in 1985 and 1986; however, other features don't match up. Additionally, I would be very surprised if that fork was original to the bike. It's a mystery.
