Specialized P3 seat tube indent

Hello, I’ve noticed an indent, I’d assumed it was to accommodate a front mech but they don’t generally use them - is this a dent or purpose made? I can’t find any reference only, hoping someone might know more about P3’s than me, shouldn’t be difficult! Thanks
