SOLD GT STS-1 frame & Marzocchi XC 700 forks

Retro Newbie
Hey, Im new to this forum, got pointed in this direction by a friend as the best place to sell my GT STS-1 (re-welded) frame (with Rock Shox super deluxe shock) and a pair of Marzocchi XC 700 (red) forks.

The frame and forks both belonged to my father who bought them new back in the 90's, however about a year after he bought the frame he cracked it around the BB (which I belive was a common problem with the sts series, GT had also changed hands at that point so original warrantys weren't being honoured), after this happened he got the crack re welded but never actually got round to building the bike back up. Hence forth it (and the forks) have been sat around in my garage for over 10 years collecting dust.

As my dad isnt around anymore I dont know the specifics of the welding process and as the frames never been built up again I cant know for sure if it will hold up. I can remember my dad saying the welder was confident it would, but for the above reasons I will sell and price the frame FOR SPARES/REPAIR. When looking inside the bb shell it appears the crack damaged some of the threads, however the screw in part of the old raceface bb still screws in fine (see photos).

Ive also noticed the end of one of the bearing axles appears to be damaged (see photo), I dont know if this has affected the pivot at all, if it has Im guessing it will just need a new bearing axle and/or bearing. Other than that the frame is in really great condition. There is no size written on the frame, but my dad was 5'11 and the frame measures 20.5" from middle of bb to top of seat clamp.

Forks are in great condition with a 187mm steerer, with only the air valve top caps missing (this doesnt affect performance, though I believe these can be obtained easily from marzocchi if needed).

From the photo's, the frame appears to be a 97 model with an 18" frame.

Good luck with the sale.
