Silverfish 1992 Mountain Cycle San Andreas

That is just because (so far) I had a quick glance at the one I have in my shop and what was in each leg. And that is: 4 Spacers and 5 elastomers. Making a total of 10 elastomers and 8 spacers per fork.

I am travelling right now and didnt have to chance to inspect it further. I will do that next weekend.

There is a good chance that these forks could be ridden with either a 10pcs. or a 12pcs set of elastomers. Depending on how steep you wan the geometry or how much travel way you wish.

I am just surprised you dont just take a folding rule yourself and simply measure or tell me what you need exactly. It takes 30 seconds to figure out how much travel way in total has to be covered by elastomers and spacers in your fork ;-) ;-) ;-) ;-)

Fond this in my files today ... My setup (5 elastomers) was correct.

In case somebody lost or got rid of the top out spring, you might find a 6th elastomer there.

Thank you @fguki
It looks like I’m also missing the top out springs
Which is suprising
When @Baulz had the bike it was barely ridden and close to NOS condition. Seems odd that most of the fork internals are missing
I don’t think you ever looked in the fork internals did you @Baulz?

It’s a lot easier building fully rigid eh?!
Still, I’ve started so I’ll finish…

This is what I have in each leg

4 Mountain Cycle branded spacers
And 2 TOP branded spacers
I suspect the 2nd pic is what it ‘should’ look like?
I’ll need to double check length now and then size any available elastomer kits/springs to suit?

Some progress tonight
Stripped the fork and headset to try to work out why it was binding.
Onza headset wasn’t installed straight so over time it has developed a tight spot.
3/4 of it is useable so may sell it for spares.
Had a spare ‘NOS’ luckily - tho it wasn’t NOS.
It’s obviously a buzzword that people don’t fully understand
A) it’s been fitted
B) it’s been used
C) and it’s also missing a couple of bearings 🤦‍♂️

But I have managed to get it running smooth 💪
Really pleased with how this is coming together.
Just need to set up the front mech now and rebuild the fork.

But it basically looks brand new 😳

I found out the special spring and will have them next week. Will add them then to a full Mountain Cycle Suspenders II rebuilders-kit. Including:

- 10 fresh elastomers
- 10 Connector-Washers
- Steel spring
- Maybe the O-Rings as well
