i did manage to source a sharkfin a few years ago for around £25 though
Cool! I finally stumbled across a Sharkfin a few weeks ago for $40,
I may use it with the stock seatstay on the FSR Elite.

And move the Enduro seatstay to the Ground Control FSR for some
disc brake action on it also.

Still love these bikes!

Has anyone put a dropper seatpost in one of these older (199:cool:
FSR frames?

Not done this, but I've wondered if the internal cable routed option is possible as the seat post is directly above where the front mech cable feeds through, could retrofit that to have the cable fed up through there if you're running 1x setup...

Re:

Sad days :(

I have had a wierd creak noise from my 1999 Elite for months now and have been unable to trace it, ive replaced all the rear linkage bearings without success, ive even tried replacing the bearing conversions for the OEM bushes from my older 1998 Ground control frame but it still never solved it.

I decided to buy a new frame, something a little newer. (Orange Alpine 160)

Upon cleaning the FSR Elite frame for respray to sell i found this :(

Bugger.

What i have done is stripped all parts from this bike and rebuilt my old 1998 FSR Ground Control frame up ;)

The 1998 was a little too small for me as its a medium frame so this bike is now up for sale.

Im really enjoying its replacement though!

Not sure what to do with the elite frame now??

Its currently hanging up in the garage.

I am trying to find a bush that would fit a vintage Rock Shox Deluxe (Yr 1999/2000 era) to a BETD link for a Specialized FSR 99.

The BETD bolt is a 8mm and the width across the BETD link is 50mm.

The Rock Shox Deluxe has an eyelet diameter of 12mm but has a polymer bush insert that reduces that to 10mm - so not sure what diameter to go for? A 10mm diameter with a 8mm bolt seems too thin and prone to bend? But a 12mm axle would be metal against metal.

I did find a photo of one fitted online so there must be a bush out there that fits?

Plus the BETD guys said this link was designed to take the shock FSR shock yet they have no mounts now…
