Shimano freehub oddity

Aye Fettler, that sounds about right. Since the freehub bearings and hub cups seem ok I reckon I'll rebuild it with a new freehub retaining bolt, fresh bearings and cone. I'll try and sort the spacers and nuts back to standard and see how we go.

What impresses me is that my mate actually rode the thing five miles. He was slow after the first mile and getting slower but said nowt. On arrival the rear was practically seized solid. He's obviously bloody fit but wish he'd stopped to complain. He'd never ridden a retro before so I've not given him a good introduction :facepalm:
