What’s your experience with finding a terrible bike in a bike shed with that one part you really need? Loitered in the vicinity of one yesterday and saw a merida with a set of front xt v brakes and an old low end 80s atb with some nitto bull moose bars.

I’ve bought loads over the years for either 1 part or lots of parts but a few stand out as I’ve literally just swapped all onto a decent frame.

£30 once bought me a unbranded frame with a full M950 group Inc wheels, Judys and some Controltech bits. All donor to a Zaskar frame which I’ve still got.

I once spent £15 on a complete bike (BSO) at a car boot sale (bartered down from £20) because it had a Flite saddle.

Saddle went on a decent bike, rest went in the skip.

This hand painted beauty was a tenner. Yep that's a USE Ti seatpost which was completely out of keeping with the rest of the bike. Even sold the rack for a fiver.
