The cranks on there at the moment are actually the originals.
They are 1989 Shimano Deore and they are the oldest part of the bike.
They came off my '89 Kona Explosif which was sadly damaged beyond repair in a heavy crash in the UK Peak District in spring '91.
That crash was the reason I even bought the Salsa.
I built it up with the parts salvaged from the destroyed Kona.
I think you are referring to the Grafton SpeedStix cranks shown in some of the pics in my thread.
I've still got them, and they are built up as a triple ring set up with Race Face rings.
I just swap them over if I feel like running a full set of gears. :D
They didn't break....

Love the white wall Saguaros. Did you get them from the Planet X tyre clear out recently?
I bought about 4 pairs of GEAX tyres off them for bargain basement prices. :D
