Rudge bike identification and history

there must be a light weight hub gear around...

I have a bike that is very similar to that. A Raleigh Lenton. 531 tubing. I modified it with modern box section rims and dual pivot calipers. My nice weather bike.

It goes like a bike that knows exactly what it's doing. All other things being equal, on a normal road a mountain bike wouldn't have a prayer against my Lenton.

yeah that clubman on e bay really appealed to me 531 .it had a lot of character brown pattinered and faded decals but obviously when i see a 1950 s or 60/s job with rust im put off . i thought about researching and sourcing period components and did not fancy a sturmey archer hub at the mo and wondered if you can get a modern 5sp hub gear which is lighter and which would benefit the feel of the 531 and make it ultra special, some thing that the original maker's and rider's would have nodded to.then i had to really fight my otherself and stop
pressing the button. one day i will find another 50/s or 60/s frame with hand cut stylish lugs and history.
