Hi all, I recently purchased a (I believe 92) GT outpost frame from eBay and upon measuring the rear dropouts, the width is 122mm. This seems very uncommon and not having much joy sourcing a wheel to suit. Does this sound like the correct width? Is there a chance the dropouts are bent (pic attached - looks ok to me)? Is there a size up that should be able to squeeze in? What would you do in this situation?

Many thanks,

Most rear wheels of that age would be 135mm spacing. Late 80s, pre-90s, some were 130mm. If you don’t have luck returning it, a frame builder could likely realign it.

You can cold-set the spacing yourself. That's a fancy term for "bending". I've done it before using a plank and it's not difficult.

Here's some methods.

Also, you will need to do this to make sure you get it centred.

Bit of patience and it's all good.

Some frames were tight bitd anyhow. It may be the viewing angle, but this does look a little out of alignment to me.
