Quick update - swapped over the cranks (finally!) for the near-identical pair from my near-identical 19" frame, and still loving the ITS tyres!
Discovered the likely culprit for the creak is that the RHS taper has been spread, so it's creaking a bit I suspect due to that. The perils of buying used parts..
Those cranks (black spider) are now on my summer/dry/commut-y 450 (II) tho http://www.retrobike.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?f=21&t=339488; so should be all good to go with this one on the 'good' set of (silver spider) cranks!
Also swapped the seat bolt for the QR from the 'other' 450, as it was getting a pain to keep adjusting it with a bolt. :facepalm:
