Greatings all!!!
Many thanks for the replys.
bikemeister2000, would I be correct in thinking you had a hand in the dho at raleigh? If so any info, back ground history/storys etc would be great to hear.
As to the project, well since my last post I started to take the frame apart so that I could touch up the paint work were rub had taken hold.
Rocker arms came off with no problems, as did the chainstay main pivots. However the pivot point between chainstay and seatstay has proved a bugger and so I have left them as they are.
Once the frame was in bits the next job was a red and ywllow paint. The red was simpleish (only 1hr 20min in halfords getting a color match and then paint made up) but the yellow is a bugger again. With the yellow being on variuos shades I havent been able to find a 'perfect' match as yet but its close enougth for me to be happy with it. See pics below for the colourt matches.
Anyway after the paintwork had been touched up (the idea of repainting it one plain colour had been mentioned by a friend but he was quickly told to close the door when he left the room!) the rocker arms were the next concern. As with other dho's I have seen the rocker arm had ovalised at the shock mount (maybe a side affect from using light weight alloy?!), however when I originally started this project back last year (I think) I spoke to a Raleigh and with the help of a chap called Johnathon I was able to get the very last pair of rocker arms for the bike along with new bearings and bushings.
So now the bike sits as a frame with a rear shock (fox vanilla rc I think!?) on its way from Scotland. The rear shock is 190 mm eye to eye as trying to get a 195mm was no fun.
The wheels and forks are as yet to be selected but I have had a interesting lead on some near new xtr cranks (in five arm) for her so will just have to wait and see.
Still no joyt on teh "Raleigh" stocker on the downtube, so if any one can help that be great.
Anyway hope you like the pics and such and any advice, help or the likes i'd love to hear from you.
Safe trails and regards
James
