Yes it's built with Reynolds 531 Professional which is the later version of Reynolds 531SL. The fastback seat stays are double tapered (thin fat thin) which was a feature of the new 531 Professional tube set. The frame may have been repainted and the later decal wasn't to hand or may have been a special request by the original owner . There is a Panasonic Team bike in 531 Professional which has both decals at the request of the owner that I've seen so anything is possible. Is the frame finished in flat or pearlescent white?

Many thanks. Interesting stuff this. Frame paint is pearlescent white for sure. The more you guys tell me about it the more I wish it was my size....might get my legs shortened!! cheers.

How tall are you? The dot on the other number tells me that it was done by the Specialist Bicycle Development Unit and is most likely the riders initials and possibly phone number or something specific to the owner but more on that later. Can you tell me how and where you aquired it, what town and any other history from the owner?

Im 6'2......and always rode 23/23.5in frames. I got this locally here on the Isle of Man. Pal of mine aquired it years ago (but he doesn't ride) and it sat in his shed covered in all sorts of stuff. I saw it when I was up there looking at a job for him. Was initially interested just in the campag groupset so picked it up from him. Doesn't help with the history though im afraid. That said....as i write... Rider initials...Only rider on island i know was Mike Doyle!!!
