Friend was having a garage clear out before Christmas, so this got passed on for a general tidy up before deciding what to do with it. As usual, forgot to take a shot of the bike before I started stripping it down. Was in a fairly unloved state, but hopefully the issues are surface deep and there is a diamond underneath...

Loving the progress and the workshop!

Are they the original rims?

Thanks very much for the comment. The workshop is definitely not to everyone's taste though. I struggle a bit with mess, so it is my safe space :)

The rims are the originals... Mavic Oxygen M6. Having been over the entire bike I think the only bits I will need to replace are the spokes, nipples, chain, cables, brake blocks, tubes and tires. Oh and every single ball bearing 😬

Also thinking I may live to regret the following when I ham-fistedly try to get 28 x 3/32" ball bearings back into the pedals.

After reading @Peachy! excellent thread on saddle repair I've bought the kit and have been waiting for the right saddle to come along. If the great man himself sees this, any ideas what to do with the holes on either side of the saddle? I asked the team at the Leather Repair Company who were very helpful, but the product they recommended was a professional leather graining kit which was slightly out of my price league. Is there a cheap man's alternative?
