You mean the metal "cage" that the bearings are contained in? (No big problem, loose bearings can work just as well).

Or the "cup" that fits into the head tube and holds the bearings (crucial part, without one you'll need to find a spare, or get a new headset).
 
Managed to get it out. Thanks so much for your help.
I do now need a pace steerer to put back in at around 270mm?
Anyone know where I can get one? 1 1/8.
 
I also need the ballbearing washer I lost down the wooden floor.

So I've got the new steerer now but it doesn't have the little collar attracted to it like the one shown above. I've tried fitting it together like the fab diagram above but it's loose in the frame. I've just ordered a pace snug collar from eBay as well.
I'll lay the bits I've got out in a line and photograph them so perhaps you could help me put them together in order. Thanks so much.
