New classified rules

All good as far as I see though I feel some empathy for our 'trade' advertisers as most of them are retro enthusiasts too. Sure that JV will give them a fair deal though!

BTW - will trade adverts be marked as such?

RBG - thansk for photobucket details. A great idea if you ever have loads of parts for sale! ;)

I agree totally with the rules.

I must say, the only times I ever have listed sans price is when I am unsure as to the value. Agree with the ebay comment, let's keep it friendly here! :D

I mean along the lines of advertisers trying to shift x00 skewers or whatever rather than enthusiasts in the trade buying and selling personal kit...

Trade rule seems very fair indeed. If you want to advertise on any car forum if you are a trader then you are expected to dig deep and in return you will get either a banner ad or sub section on a forum to pimp your wears. Traders can off set this expence as a out going overhead on your accounts and the forum is as good as (if not better) than placing an advert in a specialist magazine for your target audience to see.

fair rules though i would make pictures compulsory, read every ad,second post on 99% of them is 'pic please' as said.photobucket is free and very easy to use.

Picture inclusion was deemed a preference as opposed to a rule because it's not always that easy for people to take/ load pics all the time. I have bought stuff off people that didn't have a dig camera and it'd be a shame to rule out some honest and reputable people because they were a bit behind the times... ;)

Obviously it's preferable, but sometimes just not possible.

I'm sure most of us will still load a pic if we can. Or at least provide them later by request.

From wikipedia:

In the United Kingdom and Ireland "Bagsy" (or "Bagsie" or "Bags" or "Bugsy") is used to the same effect, although "dibs" is also used on occasion. Bagsy or bags started out as "Bags I", according to the Oxford English Dictionary which gives school-related examples from 1866 onward. Similarly, bag or bags can be used informally as a verb meaning claim in a phrase like "I'll bag the best seats". This is related to bag meaning to 'put something in a bag'.

In New Zealand and Australia the word "bags" is used to the same effect. "Bagsy" and "dibs" are used occasionally with the same meaning. When calling bags, one will not usually include the word "on" - "Bags ____ing" is used in the case of verbs, and "Bags the ____" in the case of nouns. Bags is of particular use in opting out of an undesirable task, when saying "Bags not me" before anyone else in the group will exclude one from having to do that task. Young children often use bags in this way in the song "Turn around, touch the ground, bags not me!".

For Sale Template?

John, it may be worth introducing a forsale template similar to this one used on Farkin.net

Anything which doesen't meet the template gets deleted by the Farkin mods to retain an acceptable standard. While I'm not suggesting that the Retorbike mods need to go that far a "sticky" template could solve a lot of problems in the long run.

Just a thought :)

The Farking template and description can be found here
