New Bike Day – Salsa Vaya

Ah, see the problem, mine had threads in the fork. I'd give bike monger or keep pedalling a call, they should be able to advise on options.

Thanks again. 140 mm adapters are meant for 140 mm rear end thru bolt. Spec sheet says it's a 160 mm thru bolt fork so it should be right for 160 mm rotors. Makes sense?

Caliper 10 mm closer to the fork would look right imo. Probably I will have to order one to find out, trial and error

I’m probably the worst wrapper, this time one turn on the left side has completely gone wrong, it’s hopeless 😆

It’s all cabled up apart from adjustments, have to wait for the adapter to arrive on Monday🙄

Edit: I couldn’t leave the tape as it was and had to rewrap it. Now it’s ok by my standards, I think. While trying to adjust derailleurs I’ve realized that I totally forgot about cable adjusters🤷‍♂️

So, the 140 mm adapter was right, but threads to short for those cps washers, and the caliper to close to the rotor causing brake shudder. A makeshift solution, cable routing also less than ideal – rear housing in the way when pedaling
PXL_20230217_150034286.PORTRAIT.jpg I had to decide between HY/RD and Spyre and chose the latter. HY/RD get better reviews from what I’ve read but have a clumsy look imo and are also heavier. Now it's possible to route the rear cable on the inside of the stay, with the cable stop centered to the rotor

Initial setup of the TRPs really easy going. It always was endless fiddling to make the bb7 work. Less lever travel and point of pressure also much better. So far 👍

Btw Anyone else using a Dremel to cut cable outers? :D No more squashed ends or sharp edges, one precise cut. I use a grinding attachment for the finish. Perfect! :pJust have to be careful not to overheat otherwise the liner is melting

Finished, so this is my companion for the next years :) Had a shorter ride today to bed in the brakes and it's perfect for me. Someday in the future new tires and a different frame bag....
