M930 FD Retired

Separated at birth?

Or

Out with old, in with new…

I’d crushed my klein fd travelling near moab in ‘91, bought this m930 replacement at poison spider bikes.

That klein was destroyed in freeway traffic in 94 and this front derailleur and the red bottle cage bolts were all that could be reused on the replacement bike, the 94 hei hei.

Now im doing more simulated rides on trainer and top gear wont release, spring is weak and i press it with fingers.

Lucked into the replacement, 31.8 bottom pull m900 at bike recyclery. Ive been looking for one for more than 5 years.

Whew! Simple pleasures for simple minds. I gave it a spray of fluid film to hope protect it from the sweat.

Bottom pic shows the red cage bolts from the klein.

M73x not M900. (looks like an M735)
You'll find they all look the same, bar a few holes and different bushings and possibly a c-clip on the M900.

Do you have the rest of the Klein thread anywhere?

Oh shoot. Can’t believe I wrote 930, meant my old one was an m730 and now I’m not even sure of that. M73x. The perils of typing on phone.

I thought it was interesting to see the resemblance from 73x to 900. That finish is so similar.

Remnants of Klein? No thread. It was disassembled at night by heavy freeway traffic. I think I still have an 8” piece of its chainstay… that bike meant a lot to me.

yeah, the gold XT makes it a bit later hence 735 and for M900 git the drill to it :).

Under the sticker it may have a different code.
