KG Engineering Offroad Proflex..now with photos on page 2

Re:

So sorry for the delay guys, the past couple of months have been totally taken up with me fitting my new kitchen, that and getting a new job but that's a whole other story.

Progress has been slow as I made the decision not to go for a catalogue build, rather a mix of slightly esoteric stuff with a focus on steel rather than alloy and, as is my way with all my bikes, no shimano. So far I have sorted the following:

Wheel: Bullseye hubs on NOS Campagnolo Mirox rims
Mechs: NOS Suntour XC9010
Shifters:NOS First gen gripshift
Brakes: NOS IRD Switchbacks
Levers: NOS Dia-compe SS5
Bars: NOS Salsa steel
Cranks: Bullseye
Saddle: NOS Turbo
Headset: King No Logo
Post: Syncros, but may change for IRD

I am currently waiting on a set of forks - I have a set of straight steel ones as per the original or a nice set of first gen 531 RC30 but both are being sprayed as we speak (hopefully).

I was also lucky to find the perfect flex-stem to match the frame - a second generation 'Offroad' stem, the one prior to the Girvin, all facilitated by a cool German member.

Here's a quick photo, but it may be a little while for the next instalment as the forks are the bottle neck in this build:

Barney - if you want those forks, let me know. They are in cracking condition, like new. You will probably need a new elastomer and remember that they are first gen so will need shims to go to 1 1/8" £50 and a bit of postage should see you good

Re: KG Engineering Offroad Proflex

Pete-mcc: stunning bike and bits!
I have a nos flexstem like yours too, but in 1 1/8".
The elastomer seems to be in nice condition.
Proflex decided in 1991 models to split in two bushes, cause in one bush models it seemed to crack a lot.

Sinnerman, I like Offroad-Proflex a lot, I think despite they made first full sussers with no experience they did it really good, that bikes worked ok.
In spanish we say "who hits first, hits twice"

Jeez, why is this taking you so long?!

I know, it's as if someone took forever to do the simplest thing for me. I won't be trusting them again, whoever they are...

Re: KG Engineering Offroad Proflex

Finally, getting near the finishing line. Still some bits to do like put the tyres on correctly, fit the avocet 30 computer and take some photos with a camera rather than a shonky iPhone

Usual thanks to the usual bods. Gil for the decals, Rod for respraying odds and sods and for ensuring I couldn't rush the build in any way:
