It takes serious balls to impress me these days.

That is one mighty ball, would take one hall of a cannon for that ball.....

Siege Cannon :?: :?:

Coastal defence or mortar.

I want one.

When I was six I bought a first world war shell in a junk shop in Guildford.
I remember my mum asking me why I had bought it, she had given me sixpence
to get some sweets;-)

40 kg, that rather heavy.

Do you know if its been fired, any history re date, country of origin and usage.

Fired Plymouth approx 200 years old. Recovered from the range.

It now sits on my desk. I bought a rubber dog chew ring to keep it in one place.

The 4 pounder is for a ship cannon.

I have a couple of ww1 shells with trench art. Nice. Got them in a charity shop.

And a bayonet that has been used in anger.

Scraped bare, three coats of kurust and then stove blacking today. The original finish on it was lifting in places. Buff it up in the morning. Lustrous strokable finish. After being inside for 24 hours it's lost that coldness.
