Is this a real CK headset ?

I’ve got a few CK headsets but this one is different in quite a few ways. Before I decide what to do with it , is it real ?

No King logo on cups (I know they do these)
Says King rather than Chris king on the upper bit

Looks a little different to my others but the crown race and general feel makes me think it’s a CK.

From here it looks to me like it has been done with an engraving gun, some of the letters do not even line up. Always harder to tell from pics but i would say it is not.

I think it’s real now actually as found a few the same on eBay

Most of my thoughts are it is real, any fake I've seen hasn't had the correct race and had removable bearings. The thing nagging at me is while the bearings are under a circlip, I've not had one where as much is visible below it if that makes sense.

Yes that’s one of the things different to the others I have. However I’ve found several No logo ones which are the same so I’m happy it’s real now. Maybe they changed them at some point in the 90s maybe as this was on a 94-95 bike.

Pull back the snap ring & black seals, that'll tell you if it's a CK or not. No one does bearings like CK. Also looks like white lithium grease was used last time.... get that stuff out of there, probably dried toothpaste by now.

Its just an early one. There is a crib sheet on here somewhere detailing dimensional changes. The crown races are different and not cross compatible. Aspire can provide spares if required.
