Is it an Orange or a lemon? Help needed identifing please.

Brocks, is right, its an Orange.

The formula pictured is Handmade in the Uk by TWG, the Orange clockwork examples were made in the Far east using the same production line as Muddy Fox. The twin bottle bosses reinforce the Orange connection and demonstrate its point of orgin, using a generic far east frame from the same Muddy fox line. Some generic frames mimicked what Orange and others were doing with bottle placement at the time with there hand built bikes here in the UK (Overburys/anything made By TWG etc etc).

Arriving in the Uk unpainted and then painted/stickered and assembled in the UK, unlike the Muddy fox which arrived painted and assembled direct from the far east.

Hope this helps.

Lack of rack mounts on the rear wishbone suggests it's more for something race orientated?

But then again, the mudguard eyelets should be cut off too. Eitherway, it's nice!

This explains a lot – guess this makes it quite an early Orange then...

without frame numbers, my best guess would be on or about the production run year of the green MFX. certainly no later than 90, for 91 if memory serves right, the change came for the 91 model year, A-pro were certainly supplying the MFX range with a lot of there alloy, models using Elliptical alloys and pierced top tube/seat tubes etc...and by 91 MFX was on the downward spiral..... :|

Lol

Perhaps we both should have left it to the oracle of Delphi to answer the question.... That way it could have been all done and dusted halfway down page one :D

Have a good weekend

Re:

Don't forget that the pre Orange Tushingham's were basically Muddy Fox so it stands to reason the first run of Orange were the same or similar. Still going for a very early Clockwork.

Also, don't forget the c16, 6 years after the original Clockork. 16 revisions in 6 years shows there are many subtly different bikes out there.

Oh, and listen to Sinnerman, he knows his stuff more than most.
