I must admit this is a very grey area for me
I've come across a Raleigh touring frame that I might buy to build up as a tourer/light CX bike.
The frame is clearly a Raleigh as it's stamped at the top of the seat stays
The frame has been refinished by BJs so devoid of decals.
The frame has:
Canti bosses
Teardrop gear guides a la early Overburys
No DT gear bosses
The gear guides for the gears were brazed on to the HT
IIRC Campagnolo dropouts and adjusters screws.
I don't recall it having a pump port
both frame and forks had quite ornate lugs
The frame and forks are decaled up as 531 but the shop thought it could have been 708.
Having google search as much as I can it seems it fits 70% of the bill for randoneur but that has DT shifter bosses.
Entirely possible that the frame was modified at BJs pre paint.
There was a visible clamp mark in the paint of the DT indicating some sort of DT shifters had been used but this doesn't fit with the HT gear cable guides.
I think I'm going to give it a bash so will provide pics in due course.
All help much appreciated.
Cheers,
Mark
