do they have a built in crown race (unremovable) or was mine just glued in eitherway I’ve spent 3 hours chipping the old one out and filing the remaining bits to what you would expect on a 1 1/8 fork

Rusted on...they all needed a crown race. Keep in mind that fork is 33 years old. One only knows how long it was stored in a place where the frame was condensing many days a year.

I had to chisel it off, in the end I was considering sending it off to a machinist to get it put on a lathe and recut where the crown race sits although I didnt... I hand filed it which could of been the reason why the M901 crown race split upon install maybe there was an uneven surface... who knows!
