I ran out of petrol today for the first time ever in 25 years of driving. 
My fuel gauge hasn't worked for ages as it is stupidly expensive to get repaired as it has two senders in a saddle shaped tank over the propshaft. I've thought I'd got my fuel management down to a T but got my sums wrong. Total pain trying to get a petrol canister filled as there are pretty much no city centre garages anymore and you can't take petrol on a bus or in a taxi. Still the long walk would have done me good.
