Here is the profile of the 56.25 mile coast road, anti-clockwise from Brodick.

Climbing is not the issue on the road its winds coming off the sea. Clockwise often gives you a following wind to push you up the west coast which is more exposed than the east. I did get a Brompton right round the island in the past so its quite doable and there are numerous pubs with good grub on the circuit.

Also a superabundancy of public toilets and swings in every village. Seriously.

In a kerfuffle about bikes now - have modern CB Cape Wrath already on Arran, but was gonny swap that for 1988 Marin on next visit (and flog the CBCW), but now we're talking roady stuff which may mean breaking out The Bianchi as well :shock:
