Campagnolo Hub ID Expert Needed

I'm sorting out and clearing some wheelsets and I'm not sure what these Campagnolo hubs are. My best guess is they look like Athena with Nuovo Record Skewers.

Anyone agree or have a better idea?

Sorry about the quick phone pics again, but I think you can see they have the winged logo in a shield.

Cheers guys :)

First impression is that the hubs are Nuovo Tipo and the sqewers are later Record with the "anti-stab" curved skewer and non-pointy nut,

Or the skewers are the original tipo which I think were curved with a later record nut (tipo not had no ring).

Velobase should have some pics..

Cheers Shaun, I did start looking on Velobase but they list something like 50 hubs. I started getting hub blindness :)

Will check out the Nuovo Tipo's

Look very like early Athena to me. The non drive side rear is too angular for Nuovo Tipo (which was more curved, like Record).

This was the real confusing period for Campagnolo hubs.

These could be either...

Chorus (87-91) - http://www.velobase.com/ViewComponent.a ... &AbsPos=46
Athena (88-91) - http://www.velobase.com/ViewComponent.a ... &AbsPos=33
Triomphe (84-87) - http://www.velobase.com/ViewComponent.a ... &AbsPos=72
Victory (84-87) - http://www.velobase.com/ViewComponent.a ... &AbsPos=74

Somewhere on one of the axle nuts of your hubs is a date stamp, with this and the above info you could eliminate half of the above. Also, I know there are a couple of differences between the Chorus and Athena units in that the spacers on the rear hub of the Chorus units are alloy rather than steel. Also Chorus hubs have 'S-T' impressed into the locknuts. With this, you should be able to nail it but Athena tend to be the most common. Don't go by eBay as anyone wioth a hub that looks like this tends to sell them as a Chorus to maximise profits.

On reflection it is too angular for an old nuovo-tipo..... I just looked at the logo....oops!

Well, I'll never cease to be amazed at the knowledge on this forum, its brilliant :)

I'm drawing a blank with a date or S-T, I can't see anything. I've taken off the freewheel and the spacers are alloy. On that basis they would be Chorus?

You need to unscrew the retaining axle nut and the date should be stamped on the inside face.... IIRC. :)

I've just stripped back the freewheel side to the bearing cone, the only stamping I can see is CAMP 10x26, no sign of a date.

This is fun...

OK, according to Velobase "Later Chorus has the word 'Chorus' etched into the barrel, under the winged wheel. Earlier ones can be distinguished from lesser ranges (Veloce, Mirage, Centaur etc.) by flat dust-caps, as opposed to domed ones. Also Chorus hubs have 'S-T' impressed into the locknuts [the same marking is found on the hub barrels of early Record]. Not sure what this implies. But Chorus DOESN'T share Record's forged and through-hardened hub cups. So it's not clear how - functionally - Chorus are any better than the cheaper ranges."

Could still be Triomphe/Victory so a way of dating would be useful. What rims did they come with.
