Hi again
I saw yesterday in my recently reacquired Almega than BB has some play, and cranks almost touch the elevated stays during pedaling, in fact there is some mark on them. And Im 90 kg. But it seems original. Is it an Standard BSA threaded one? Can I use a more modern cartridge one, and maybe 5 mm longer? Ive not disassembled yet
Thank you.

You can use a modern cartridge bottom bracket but it needs to be square taper and 122.5mm for a Deore DX crankset.

... and it is supposed to be quite close to the chainstays, the marks on them shouldn't be from cranks, but shoes - at least on my 1992, it is.
Anyway, to see whether it is BSA or not, you can meassure it without dismantling (and yes, it is BSA). And the length of the BB depends on used crankset, if there is DX cranks, then as above.

In my casem the crank slightly touch the chainstay ( not the shoes). I think that current BB is too short.
