Another car question....

I wonder what model you had then? 1.9d with its rip snorting 63bhp sounds about right. The 105 JTD has a 1st gear that leaves everything at the lights up to 25mph with 60 in the next 12 seconds.

The 1.3 multijet I personally think is a bit small for many of the cars its thrown in with owners used to the torque of bigger engines.

You need to avoid anything fashionable at that price. Saab 9-3 1.9 diesel, anything Toyota or Nissan occur to me. Diesel Avensis or Primera?

The Saabs use the Fiat engines among others with the 16v version being a bit tetchy. Toyotas seem fine but 'Dci' Nissan use Renault engines which gives me the heeby jeebies for no other reason than its Renault.

Agreed on the Renault one!!!! I was thinking of the 2.0 Primera of around 2004. Unfashionable but big, robust and frugal although with zero image. I thought the Fiat 150bhp 1.9 TD was meant to be one of the best diesels around. The 2.2 Vauxhall diesel was pretty awful and my local Saab specialist always kept a top end rebuild kit in stock.

I work with about 20 different car dealers/ mechanics a month and get a different story each time. I take the mean, my own experiences and a bit of gut instinct and go from there.

The 120 Multijet Doblo I bought back in August is a proper dog and has really thrown me.

The mileage I do and what I want from a car has just left me cold. I hate cars. They pay my wage and keep the roof over my head but beyond that they are just fodder to me now.

But, if a W126 with a decent LPG kit came up for sale...
