weren't sprints and tubs always 700C? I only started late 70's and then it was just as kids on "10 speed racers"

If so, then no standard bike is incorrect with 700Cs

Yes.

Unless you're a triathlete............... :?

My Era was the 70's and the usual sizes were 26" for standard roadsters, 27 x 1/14 for "racing bikes" from the major manufacturers and sprints / tubs for the people who actually raced bikes

Then the Michelin Elan came out and "HP" tyres started to look more like sprints and tubs.......memory fails but the rims from Weinmann and Mavic were 27 X 1" for the Elan.

Then I left to go to uni :)

Where did 26x1 1/4 come into it? That seemed to be the standard size on schoolboy "racers" around the turn of the 80s.
