2001 Cove Stiffee FR

Just get a cheap 18 or 19 to try out and run with your 36, no need to change the front and bigger is better.

Dude were on the same page. Was just trolling eBay as you wrote this. Was thinking 18-20 freewheel then I can keep my rad crank on. Really want to get the lizard more trail worthy and really compare the two bikes.

Re:

Step up jump to a 8 foot roller drop and the crank pedal threads blew. Bummed to loose this gem of a crank. Also my balls/thighs took a beating. Could have been worst.

Ouch... I've been lucky enough not to experience that since my Grifter slipped into neutral back in '79!

Re:

After a very bruised tailbone I got back on the Cove after 3 weeks if no riding. Amazing bike. Perfect XC and AM trail bike. So much fun. Been changing parts a lot. Going to 9 speed it soon with a RF NW ring.

Re:

Been riding the hell out of the Cove. over 100 miles on the last two months. Shes a keeper. Even better now with more and more Chromag parts.

That's a beauty, I've always liked Cove, even after a pretty comical experience as a dealer.

When I worked in a shop in the mid 00s, we sold Cove, and they would ship the frame in one box, and a build kit in another. I don't think the build kit *ever* had the right or complete set of parts. No headset spacers, two rear derailleurs, no derailleurs, etc, etc.

Loved the frames though.
