Was it a damaged frame when you decided to hang it up or just no longer being ridden?

The frame numbers show that it is a 1997 main frame with a 1999 swingarm, so I'm quite happy that I have it in the right section before anyone says anything about disc mounts!

Could you maybe explain more about the dating of Santa Cruz frames so that I can double check the year of my Santa Cruz frames.

On the early ones at least the first two digits are the year followed by two letters and then four or five numbers as the serial.
So my frame is 97^^***** and the swingarm is 99^^*****. I couldn't work anything out from your numbers when I saw them Rob. Not sure if they changed the system at some point.

Some thing I just noticed, yours has a curved top tube and mines is straight and yet I was under the impression mines was a '98'. Were the early ones not straight top tubes then later curved.

I'm confused :?

Nah, curved top tube on large and X-large frames only. Straight on medium and smaller.
