Hi all

I would like to ask advice as to the correct size bottom bracket needed for a 1995 Orange P7 I am building up...

I have measured 68mm as the width of the BB housing on the frame. Is this correct?

I will be running a Shimano M-900 XTR crankset with 175mm arms.

Could anyone help me out with the specific size bottom bracket I would need including the correct axle length?

Also (and sorry if this is a silly question!) do I have to buy an M-900 XTR bottom bracket or can I use any quality like XT OR LX? i.e is the crankset a universal fit if used with other similar period shimano?

Thank you in advance for any help!

The last m900 chainset I used was with a 113mm bottom bracket. But 107mm Also works I believe. Your measurement of 68 mm for the BB shell width is no doubt correct.

And you can mix and match bb's you don't have to specifically use an xtr BB with the xtr chainset.

Some frames require longer axle lengths because of the stays. So there is enough clearance between pedal and the rear stay
