 very nice, one of my favourite years and really liking that colour too.

Re: 1993 Kona Hot - Updated Spec

Thank you all for the support and kind words - really great to have the feedback.
Its been a long wait to get hold of all the itinerary, but now looking forward to finally finishing it and getting it out on trails. It will be interesting to compare how it rides alongside the 91' Explosif given the additional stiffness from the splined down tube.

The XP cranks have been a hard item to find (featuring also on Steve Peat's Hei Hei) and very lucky to have also inherited Steve_T's chromed velocity stem from when he sold on his DeKerf painted Hot. I hope he's in good health as I haven't heard or seen much of him..?

Re: 1993 Kona Red Black Hot

Couple of updates from autumn. Been a slow burn, mainly from lack of funds, obtaining parts for a Hei Hei - also in the works - and wanting to get everything 100% before finally pushing now to finish .. ➡️

Over the summer, I acquired a battered 93' Cindercone, to use as a donor for the Hot, and decided to have the forks restored to match the original silver. Ooey Custom kindly offered re-doing the donor spare stem, which was little mangled, as a freebee so took on the offer.

Not sure yet if I'll use the original chrome version, that the 93' Hots originally had fitted, or use the new coloured matched one :D Chrome version is marginally lighter

Re: 1993 Kona Red Black Hot

Have you got everything now to build this?

Re:

.. All accept a rear B: Drive tire! New wheel build will take a week or so from that.

Need to cleanup the JM Horseshoe then good to go. Maybe switch the headset from a control centre back to the original Impact and fit the UN72 B.B.

New decals applied to fork / stem after ;)

Re: 1993 Kona Red Black Hot

very nice looking project. Love this vintage Kona

Re:

@tintin40 - thank you. It's been about 2 years too slow in the making!

@sp - sounds great buddy. Peaslake could be fun to rip around on, but not sure this one would be able to match the pace of a KK hardtail! :)
