1992 Diamond Back Response- FINISHED (Pix on Page 4)

Re:

So..........

My name's Chris and I'm an addict. :D

More stuff done. The Apex I acquired from boxer arrived at work on Friday. One of the reasons for buying it was as a donor for this build. My primary thought was that it was probably the best chance I had of bagging a pair of wheels. When I opened the box, there they were; a pair of DX hubbed Avenir rimmed wheels. Pretty true, they could do with a tweak and new grease in the bearings, but otherwise just in need of a good clean.

I spent the next couple of evenings cleaning them up & giving them a good polish. Even the QR's have come up nicely and the cassette shows little ware.

Cleaned and shiny, I fitted the Smokes I had put aside and mounted the rear on the bike.

Re:

Now;

The eagle eyed amongst you may have spotted the other arrival lurking at the bottom of the last photo.

The Marzocchi XC100 forks have landed from the good ol' US of A. They're everything I'd hoped they would be. Seals seem good and the general condition is excellent. I may speak to Gil about new decals (along some 'DB' decals of the sides of the lower legs, as per the factory builds). I've still got to source a suitable steerer, but I have a lead on that so hopefully they'll be up and running soon.

Just looking for the final few bits now:

DX Thumb shifters
Grips
26.8 Kalloy Seatpost
Turbo Saddle. (The Apex didn't have it's original Avenir and I doubt I'll find one easily)
Sedis chain
Cables.

If I can't get this ready for Mayhem I need a kick p the arse!

Apologies for the picture quality, but i only get to work on it weekday evenings so it's dark by the time I get round to taking them.

Re: 1992 Diamond Back Response

Great progress buddy.
Gotta love the wheel rims DB were using in this era.

A suitable screwdriver could be inserted through head tube/fork crown & stem quill to give a mock-up of the final silhouette.

Re:

Steerer tube is sorted & on its way ;)

I also have most of the other parts still outstanding sorted. Just waiting for them to land so I can finish it off. Just need to work out if I need more cabe outer, oh and buy a suitable chain (if I've not got one in the parts stash).

Should have it all built up in the next couple of weeks. Then I'll be able to take some decent photos.

That looks great. Nothing but envy here.

Cheers man, that means a lot.

I'm realy looking forward to seeing how your Axis turns out. I'd love a '91 Axis Pro in the green. That would be very cool.

So; do you think white & pink cable outers would be too much on the response?

Re:

Well the forks have been rebuilt with new seals and its.........
