paint on these period treks was rock hard too.
I remember doing trials (hey, one bike for all back then!) and he dropped the front wheel off a wall and the forks took all the weight scratched right down the fork. We looked, fearing the worst, and it was unmarked :shock:
I remember my friend crashing on a pathe against a 300-yr-old farmer's Vespa (What ye punks doin'here???) and getting a songle scratch on his cromoly Trek 990. The 8000 was rock hard, tho. When a Stumpy substituted it in my garage, I doubled my DH speed. Lugs, thick walled tubes, and those Big forx didn't help...
