1990 Kona Explosif
Here is a 18” 1990 Kona Explosif I purchased over lockdown with the idea of updating.

It’s an interesting bike with some great condition XT bits on there so could be useful to someone to break and sell on individually or restore as you see fit.

The frame has been resprayed professionally at some point in the 90s as those in the know will notice they came with a splatter effect custom paint job. The re spray is really high quality as hopefully you can see from the pics.

The components on the bike are:

XT thumb shifters 7x3
XT pedals
XT front mech
XT rear derailer
Shimano M730 crank
XT rear hub / specialised BX23 rim
Exage front hub / Araya rim
XT headset (needs service)
1” Synchros stem
1” Synchros seat post (possibly titanium?)
Canti front and rear brakes (not matching)
Manitou comp front forks (needs repair)

I noticed that, but was hoping a more expert eye would point it out

Ok just had a good look and it’s just a build up of clear coat that has got dirty. I had given it a buff with a cloth it’s gone. Obviously anyone interested is free to inspect in detail.
