1985 Mercian “King of Mercia” 531

Hi all

This lovely bike belonged to the late husband of a friend and she'd like to sell it on now, so I need a bit of help over the prices.

It looks like new aside from some minor pitting to the chrome on the headset, some teeny marks on the paint and marks to the front rim.

Its full Campag Victory with Suntour Superbe brakes, Cinelli bar and stem, Brooks saddle and super champion rims. I've had to replace the hoods with Dia Compe versions as the originals had rotted badly.

Need some advice cheers!

Re:

Pure class .
Price wise . I would check with Mercians as to cost of a new King .
I reckon over £1.800 is getting towards the price of a complete new machine but that depends a lot on the spec of the parts .
Given the quality of the parts used on this bike £700 would be a bargain imho

I would start nearer the thousand and if it does not go then come down. It is one of the nicest steel classics I have seen in a long time.Someone will pay a lot of money for that.Beautifull

Hi

My mate bought it after a few too many beers, he's now not sure whether to actually use it and risk getting it dirty...

well, seriously if he'd rather move it on, I can give it a good home where it will be loved and used..do you think he might want to sell?

1st up Apologies for the intrusion on this post but I have a 1976? or 1992? (92276) King of Mercia which I really should let go to a home where it will be used!

I purchased it for my retirement from a friend who had the Frame restored at Mercian and new components fitted :-
Brake levers, Calipers and Cables, Brake blocks, Handlebars, Gear Cables, Chain, 5 Speed Regina freewheel block, Saddle.
I have fitted new tyres (since the Photos) it's in superb condition and had little use over the last 8 years (kept in heated/Dehumidified Garage).
Runs really well but a bit too high geared for me at 71 (I have 2 KHS Mountain bikes with Granny gearing - suits me better).
Here are a few photos if anyone may be interested + a help on price would be appreciated.
Clive
perhaps I should create a new post for this?
New Post created and SALE AGREED (Fri 17th Jul 2015)
