OK - chainring all straight now ... just a bit of rubber mallet ...

Shyed away from tackling the cotter pins on the grounds that it is all running smooth so I will deal with it when needed.

As the chainset if running perfectly well I shall leave until it requires attention ...

I'm on the rebuild phase now; I think it should turn out rather nice.

I used to find that a large adjustable spanner was a good tool for straightening steel chainrings. Plenty of leverage which, due to the longer length of the handle, could be controlled well.
