First Suzuki now Subaru

The events still suck though. Bring back longer, tougher event that cover the whole country like the RAC did in the seventies and eighties. The whole settup and central servicing is a lead weight around the WRC- it was designed as a hub for the media. Put the rally around the country followed by a few small vans and free the shackles. The cost of transporting those huge service areas and media centres around the world is staggering. Put the media (and to be honest I don't think they give a toss about rallying any more) in a hotel in the starting town and ply them with drink and food. This is the way it was done before and it worked. With modern technology they could have live feeds from the stages, instant results all within the comfort of a nice hotel. There should be a limit in place on the number of personel a team takes on events- limit the number of engineers, PR, cooks etc. All unnessesary.

The proposed changes to S2000 plus is just another blind alley. The cars are still too expensive and are dull to watch. The cars should be non turbo and two wheel drive like the vast majority of cars on the streets. They would be loud and very spectacular due to the basic transmission- sort of a modern day Escort. Imagine Gigi Galli on one of those! The sport needs to be more visually appealing to attract spectators back- large crowds means more sponsors and more TV and newspaper interest. Personally I just don't think the new raft of regulations cut it. The end is nigh!

It must be possible to move events around the country, cycling grand tours do it for 3 weeks each and they have a massive ontourage,I remember the RAC coming through our town years ago,v cool.
