I have just started restoring a 94 frame and I d like to run V brakes . but there is no cable stops for the outer cable . Only a cable guide which goes around the seat tube collar .
is there a technical trick or do i need to run outer cables all along ?

I ran Vs on the Zaskar for a while and found that braking was better with a cable run all the way to the brake, zip tied to the frame.

Whats your cable routing, above top tube?

(You could always invest in a nice set of cantis :) )

cable routing is on the top .

I have nothing agaisnt cantis , I run some Avid tri align on the Yeti , but I have a lovely set of silver XT first generation to use .

I can't think of any way of doing it without risking damage to the frame or leaving you with potentially dangerous brakes.

Is it a steel frame, why not get a proper cable stop brazed on?

You can buycable stops after market I'm sure. They clamp on to the frame, its not as clean, but it beats running 4 feet of housing. Does anyone know where to find them?
