Rear stay/drop-out question?

Newman8

Devout Dirtbag
Hi,
This is a friend's bike:
Frame's about 20 years old but parts are modern. Think it may have had stays respaced for modern 10/11-spd(?). Drop out looks bent in from stay - does that look healthy in photos? Note the horizontal line where drop-out joins stay.
Seems to run ok spinning through all the gears on the work-stand but not so good under weight/strain of proper riding.
Says gears feel as though they're stuttering & wheel feels like it wants to come out.

Any thoughts?
Ps. Will be next weekend at least before I actually get to see bike...

Usually gear jumping under load is the sign of a worn cassette. A frame form 1993ish would have a 130mm spacing, the same as today.

well you may need a gear hanger alignment tool to check for a bent gear hanger also.
Worn chain on newer cogs or vice versa will always be jumping, making funny noises also.
