Re-greasing a freehub

Last time I did one, I went at it with carb cleaner until it was very clicky and sad sounding, then I left immersed in a pot of 15/40 engine oil for a day or two; then let it drip dry for a couple more days before refitting.

The hub seems fine, but my cranks still creak.

Removed from Hub body and then flushed with brake cleaner until it span freely and was nice and 'clicky' and then blocked the axle hole with a large bolt and filled the cavity with the chain oil and let it seep through with me spinning the body until it was visible seeping out of other end of he freehub body, cleaned up and re-fitted to the hub and back on the bike. it now feels like new, spinning nice and free with a decent clicking noise (it's a Suntour XC Comp) and now the sprocket don't try and overtake the chainwheels.

Lesson learned is use a decent oil and and not sticky chain lube.

Carl.
