:LOL: Well the project is certainly getting whackier, offered up the manifolds in the engine bay earlier, i recon to make space for the exhaust downpipes and planned large oil cooler (to restore oil capacity due to the chopped sump), i'll need to mount the radiator in the boot with the coolant hoses running through the inside of the car. Actually this was common with Rallycross cars, would also help with weight distribution :)
 
I've been working on the Iveco ripping out a two berth caravan and getting it fitted into the van nearly there with the wood work apart from getting the raised double bed built and start wiring in the electrics again

Waterproof Car Cover Needed

Anybody know where I can get a descent waterproof car cover
for a good price? Say one big enough for a MK2 Golf.

Don't do it Rob. :shock:
Even a good cover is worse than no cover, unless it's a carcoon. ;)
 
Any cover you put on it will need to be tied down to stop it blowing away.
That makes it tight on the body of car, but it will still be able to be moved about over paintwork by the wind because cover acts like a big sail.
Result..... rubbed and scratched paint from cover and dust getting under it.
I know because I covered my kitcar for a few months and when I took cover off the paint was a mess.
 
Plus it traps condensation and can cause rust as a result, park it on your drive and build a wooden shed around it :)
 
Sold the wheels and tyres off the Escort project last week which is a bit of a set back, really liked them and they suited the car but no matter what i tried i could'nt get them to work, before i hear anyone say What ? all they have to do is turn :), the problem was backspace or ET, they had an ET of -12mm which is normal for a 9" wide rim but the wheels wouldnt fill the rear arches, even with the full width Capri axle and 1" spacers (not keen on using spacers either), also more of a problem was the fronts fouled the suspension before steering was at full lock.

They would have worked on any other RWD Ford but this car is so far off the beaten track (and so wide), some bits work some dont, so i've gone for Weller steel wheels in 10x13 ET-32 rear and 8x13 ET-10 front, will use wide and narrow tyres to suit so wheels wil be staggered sizes, this suits the car better as the body is wider at the rear, may still need spacers but hopefully not as wide.

Only trouble is the only road legal tyre i can find to fit a 10x13 rim is a 245/50/13 Avon at £180 each :shock:, wide tarmac rally intermediates are an option though, but not strictly road legal (only legal for road use between rally stages)
 
Didn't know Weller wheels were still around.
Had a set on my 1275GT.

When I had my kitcar I investigated getting Colway tarmac rally tyres for it before I got the sticky Yokohamas.
I'm sure the Colways were fully road legal and sold as proper road tyres, just not with the long mileage you'd get with normal road tyres.

Coolant change today :cry:

Might sound cheap and easy but with the radiator in the front, engine in the back and around 14 feet between, its 16 litres and a bit of bleeding :LOL: the radiator that is, not me ;)
Easy enough, biggest pain is taking off the undertray.
