A few of you asked a while ago so here's a short threat about my "monster bike." It was a term project for my first welding class and I had a wonderful time building it from plumbing pipe. The original plan was to make it rideable but after fabrication of the frame was complete and the thing tipped the scale at 120lbs I figured best not to instal a drive train for fear of hernia. As it stands now the "bike" is functional, the hubs are simple solid spindles in slightly larger pipes but they do have my own version of needle bearings. The rear end is single sided and was a real pain to get straight. The only parts that I did not fabricate myself (or modify enough to call my own) are the headset (1 1/4" STX), stem (1 1/4" adjustable) and bar(specialized flat bar). The thing has replaced the fantastic evergreen tree that once stood in my front yard. the bike is unpainted and untreated as is my artistic choice and has a fantastic patina of rust growing over ever piece. Anyway, I love it and it loves me.
