High Ping

I play medal of honour on line. But today i kept getting kicked off as i have a high 'Ping' What does this mean? Is it bad? How can i get a lower Ping? I looked on Wikipedia but couldn't understand what it wrote

Ping = time it takes for a test message to get from you, presumably to the server (and back).

High = a long time! Is your internet connection cr@p for other things, or perhaps dodgy signal where the console is?

oh well will wait to play next month. When i have moved and hopefully the signal will be better. But it will be the same company talktalk :|
