Any computer whizzes out there?

My desktop pc is suffering from some software downloads I've made recently. On many sites every page I load I get ads popping up, slowing my browsing down massively & just generally being a huge nuisance.

I looked at a tutorial on Youtube & it showed a free software I could use called adwcleaner. I went to download it & it wanted to install toolbars & the exact stuff I want to rid of. I have removed any visible programmes via the removal method in the startup menu I dont recognise & have the corresponding dates of the things I wanted to install.

Anyways, I'm on windows vista. Any pointers appreciated.

First off what is it thats popping up ? is it Bing ?
Also, you dont have to install the toolbars packaged with these 'cleaners' . I think youre allowed a get out clause so look for a ticked box near it and make sure its COMPLETELY unticked
This means that clicking it seemingly off isnt enough. it goes from tick to x but still loads, a third click brings up an empty box signifying you dont want to have it. theyre sneaky buggers these people.

Whats your search engine ? Is it related to the ads that pop up ?
