94 Zaskar (first retro build)

Bean Head

Dirt Disciple
Rescued this from my brother in law who didn't have room for it. It was in a bit of a sorry state so I thought I'd get it up and running again. As it arrived:

Filthy, oxidised and a right mish-mash of old, new and cheap parts.

I stripped it back and sanded it to clean metal:

Polished it a stuck some new decals on it:

Next stage was to build it up. I decided to go period correct but got a little carried away. It's maybe not totally original and certainly not the best example out there but I'm very pleased with how it's turned out. Pics:

A big thank you to everyone on here who's helped out with parts, I hope you like their new home.

Re:

Looking good there  .... and what an understanding wife allowing you to strip and polish the frame on the dining room table

Re:

Cheers!

Ha! The frame was on the table strictly for photography purposes. All the work was done outside...

Re:

I cringed when I heard you say "I stripped it back and sanded it to clean metal:" but its come out well  BTW is the frame a LE?

Only a light sanding with very fine wet and dry paper. It was very oxidised and rough.

I could be wrong, but I thought the only difference between the standard Zaskar and the LE was the spec (XT vs. XTR)?

Thats what I always thought but I ask due to the milling done on your rear drop outs.
I'm no GT expert hopefully one will come along any minute ;)

I'll be watching your thread with interest.
